Inquiries- I wonder questions that need solving:

  • Explain if your species is a native or non-native species. Find out if it is invasive and tell a few clues that tell you that this species is invasive. David Great JOB DAVID! Good come back for your team! How do you think they got here all the way from ASIA? Do you think they swam all the way here?

Our spices is non-native, it came from Asia. It is invasive and it eats large amounts of fish and vegitation.

  • Where does your species come from? How did it get here? Serena THANKS Serena! Now I know how they got here......they did not swim all the way here!

Our species came from Asia, it got here by escaping brook stock, fish farms or trading in aquariums. They live in small ponds that don't have many native fish.  They live in little or no oxygen because they can breath air.  They can live street dains with muddy bottoms and can be founds on streets during a flooding storm.

  • What does invasive mean? How is it different than being just non-native? Why is it so hard to get rid of it? ryan

  • How does your species affect our Florida habitats? What Florida animals is this species hurting or affecting? How are people guilty of it? lauren Nice research. Wow! They have been here for a while. Do you think they are here because people don't know any better? I am glad we will teach our future citizens the right thing to do.

The walking catfish were discovered in Florida around 1967 they are from Asia.  The walking catfish live in small ponds and vegetated ponds. They eat a lot of different foods, small fish, plants, dead fish, and trash.  Our concern would be if the walking catfish grow too big they could destroy good fish wild life and nature.

  • What can humans do to fix the problem? - All of you should come up with at least one idea for a total of four ideas.

1.Humans need to keep them in their tank.  Don't let them free in the lakes.  If you don't want the them return them to the pet store. (serena)
